STEP 1 ASSESSMENT
The English, English as a Second Language (ESL) and Mathematics assessment exams help place you in classes where you are most likely to succeed.
Assessment is required for all students planning to enroll in English, ESL or mathematics. Make an appointment for an assessment exam when you file your college application.STEP 2 ORIENTATION
Orientation sessions present important information abou college programs, requirements and services. Orientation helps you understand the college Catalog and Schedule of Classes, necessary tools to plan for your first semester in college.
Orientation information is included as part of both the Assessment and Counseling components of matricualtion.STEP 3 COUNSELING
Counselors provide pre-registration counseling for all new and returning students. Meeting with a counselor before registration in classes allows you to review your educational goals, learn about majors and requirements, and select the courses you plan to take during your first semester at Miramar CollegeSchedule an appointment for a STEP (Success Through Educational Planning) Session at the Assessment or Counseling Offices.
STEP 4 FOLLOW-UP
After enrolling for the first semester, you will benefit from additional matriculation services to help ensure your success--College Success Seminars, counseling appointments to develop formal Student Educational Plans (SEP), early alert for students having trouble in classes, and career and transfer planning through the Career/Transfer Center.Schedule an appointment with a counselor during you first semester in college. Plus, take advantage of the many opportunities available to help you succeed at Miramar College.
